Fine, but needs to be tweaked. For a brand new restaurant, Noir has too many tables packed too closely together. The food is good and fresh and the menu offers a nice selection, however the paella wasn't particularly memorable. They've got a nice beer list and in the warm months the outside seating is a nice touch. If seated inside, pray that you aren't claustrophobic or need to get to the bathroom quickly if its busy because you'll be falling all over fellow diners making your way to the back.

My friend and I went to Noir for drinks and dessert. We were not disappointed. We sat outside, so I can't comment on the interior. Our waitress was perfect--friendlfy and prompt, but not overwhelming. She recommended the Tres Leches cake, and it was awesome! The Lemon Drop martini was also delicious. My friend had the creme brulee and Dreamsicle martini, and raved about both. It seemed like a nice atmosphere, and something you generally don't find in the area. I'd go back for the Tapas style dining.

Four of us ate at Noir on Saturday evening. Reservations were for 6 PM and we were seated immediately. By 7 or after, it gets pretty crowded and for good reason. The food is outstanding! Once the place is packed, it can be a little loud, as any place would be. The service was nothing short of great as well. We tried 6 or 7 different small plates and all were great with the only exception being the fried zucchini which was on the soggy side. Wine list is impressive for Peoria, but that seems to be common in the Heights, where most of the good restaurants in the area are located. We will definitely go back this summer!

I love tapas and have tried what I feel are some pretty good ones. Noir does a fair job. Pretty good atmosphere and the staff does a good job. Peoria is lucky to have this place but I don't think the locals get the whole tapas thing. Order a few tapas have some drinks and repeat. Everyone should give it a try.

After living in Madrid for some time, I had been dying to find a local place where I could get some authentic Spanish (read "Spaniard") food from Spain. Well, Noir IS NOT the place for authentic Spanish cooking, but it stills get 3 1/2 stars in my book for having tasty food, lovely presentation of the cuisine and a unique ambience. Authenticity: Noir is about as authentic to Spanish cooking as P.F. Chang's is to true Chinese food. However, that is not to say that the food is not good, which it is (very tasty, in fact). There are some "traditional" tapas on the menu, such as patatas bravas, churros con chocolate, jamon iberico, etc. But, expect all of the more classic tapas to have an American twist on them which render them less than genuine Spanish fair. Portions: Some of the dishes were larger and more filling, while others were smaller and left you wishing for more. Overall though, the portions seemed on par with other tapas restaurants I have been to in the U.S. Our waiter recommended about 4 plates for a party of two. Maybe my husband and I are big fat fatties though, because we ordered 6 plates and 1 dessert between the two of us, and felt good full :) Ambience: The atmosphere was intimate, romantic and trendy. It felt more "moorish Spain" with lots of Moroccan influences in the decorative scheme. Review of Certain dishes: - Sangria (special drink of the night) = Yummy with lots of fruit pieces. - Lamb bites w/garlic mint yogurt dip = Very unique flavors and definitely a favorite! - Cheese stuffed pork filet and lamb meatball = Tastier than we were expecting...the cheese inside these made them extra special. - Grilled manchego and serrano crostini = A glorified ham and cheese sandwich...would not recommend. Serrano ham and manchego cheese are so delicate and delicious, that if you want to sample these Spanish delicacies, you're better off trying them on the cold cheese and meat plate. - Stuffed roasted pepper rolls = Very good although I was thrown off by the odd texture of the rolls since the pepper skins were removed. - Spicy potatoes bravas = Tasty, but not traditional at all. Did not come with a spicy tomato based sauce, but rather a sweet sauce that resembled thousand island dressing in color. One of the larger, more filling dishes. - Breaded artichokes with alioli = Gotta love the bitter yumminess of the artichoke. If you don't know what alioli is, it's basically a garlic mayonnaise with olive oil. - Churros con chocolate and cream = Again good, but all wrong! The "churros" were more like cinnamon/sugar covered donut sticks, which while good, were nothing like the chewy, soft and tender churros of Spain. The tiramisu and chocolate dips which accompanied the dish were good, though no comparison to the rich dark chocolate that traditionally comes with the churro (and incidentally, is not very sweet at all). Overall, we had a really nice time, but if you have any experience with Spain/Spanish cuisine, adjust your expectations, and you'll enjoy the experience much more. 3 1/2 stars! I definitely plan on coming back again in the future.

Now, I'm not anti-smaller city restaurants, but I am anti the whole I'm trying to be the "sophisticated" restaurant in the small city and charge big city prices. I was in P-town for work and we decided to go here after dinner. We stuck to three dishes...why only three? Because I felt like the menu was approximately $3-$4 overpriced per dish. We had the shrimp, the fried artichokes and the empanadas. All were OK and tasted perfectly fine, but nothing stood out. Let's just say that as soon as I got back into Chicago, I went to Iberico.

We really enjoyed our experience at Noir. The food was good and we enjoyed the ambiance. It helps that we were looking for a laid back evening when we went and Noir did not disappoint on that front. First off if you plan to go get a reservation. It's a small restaurant and the place is packed during the weekend. If the weather is not good there isn't any real waiting area and the bar was full while we were there so you're probably not going to be able to easily wait for a table. Another thing to be aware of is that there are three types of seats in the restaurant. The bar area, the table area and the couch area. We sat in the couch area and the couches are very comfortable but if you like bellying up to your dinner table these seats are probably not for you. I'll also add that the restaurant is kind of dark... As in the lighting is real low. So low that you see people pulling out their phones, small flashlights etc... to read the menus. It really didn't bother me that much but some people may have issues. On the food front the couple we went with are vegetarians and they were very happy with the plethora of selections for them. They were particularly fond of the Brie Bites. We all liked the bruschetta as well. It had a healthy dose of balsamic which made it even tastier in our book. Our waitress said that their scallops were a popular choice and my wife and I enjoyed them very much. My wife was particularly fond of the sauce they came with and the waitress even got her some more crustini to sop up what remained of the sauce after we were done with the scallops. As others have commented they have a nice wine selection and interesting drink menu. As for the waitstaff... Our waitress was kind of slow to get started. Nothing bad just not as attentive as I would have liked. As the night wore on however she became better and better and I think the earlier issue was just due to the quantity of customers they were dealing with. Nothing to get worked up about. My only minor negative was the desserts... There wasn't anything wrong with them they just weren't all that great. Overall I gave them a 4 of 5 and they can count on the fact that they will see us again in the future..

Great idea, pretty good food, ridiculously overpriced. We love tapas and I don't mind paying for good food, but when it is more expensive than far superior tapas in Chicago, it makes you wonder. I don't buy the "lack of demand" comments indeed here. I also am not just being a cheapskate. Don't mind paying...it is about getting what you pay for. I felt that the very expensive June was a better value than this place. Sad, we would have loved to have a go to tapas place in Peoria, but won't be going back until something changes. I totally agree with the reviewer who said that everything is 3-4 dollars overpriced.

Went here for our anniversary. Had never been to a tapas restaurant before. Had an amazing time. The atmosphere was great and the food was excellent! Have been back a few times since and had a wonderful time. Price is about what I expected for the quality !

I came here with 3 others on Saturday and we had a great time! I understand another poster's comment about the high price of the food, but it is not that bad--most of the tapas (hot and cold) are about $7-$10. It's not a place you eat at every weekend or every night for that matter--it's a once every few months place in my opinion. I have also been to Cafe Iberico in Chicago many times--their food is excellent and prices are cheaper, but there is a higher demand for that place because it's in the 3rd largest city in the country. There is not the demand here, hence the higher prices. They have to make a profit somehow, right? In saying that, our group had 7 different plates of food, plus the white sangria. We especially enjoyed the fish tacos, cheese stuffed meatballs, salmon bites, and chorizo and portabello mushroom bites the most. Yum! For dessert, we had the caramel banana gelato and the tres leches cake--both were excellent. Our bill with the pitcher of sangria (which was $50) was $140, split up by 4 people. Like I mentioned earlier, this is not where you go for a casual meal. It's the place to go for a celebration, couples night, or to try something new.

Great ambiance, food is mediocre, the crostini for bruschetta was extremely stale. Mussels were great, but no bread to mop up the broth?? The lamb kabobs were very good, Calamari is better at two 25. They also need to have better training for the servers, we had to constantly seek ours out. What was odd to me was that we went around 3.30 in the afternoon and had our baby with us. The first thing our server told us was that they have no high chairs!! Overall I'd go back, but more so for the ambiance.

This place just recently opened in the Heights. It's a very cozy, cool, and fun atmosphere. Check out the website. The tapas that we had were delicious and light. We definitely plan on going back with some friends to try some more! The complimentary chips and salsa they served before we ordered was great! We had the Corn Cakes with Mango Salsa which was pretty good. Then the Prawn & Avocado Salad with Jalapeno Cheddar Chips which was really good. And last we had the Serrano Wrapped Asparagus with Lemon Aioli which was fabulous. My husband had 2 beers (foreign, but I can't remember which country) and he loved it. And I had a glass of white wine (SANTA JULIA "Organica" Torrontes 2008 ) which was perfect for me. Our bill came out to be $40.05 with tax. Just a warning: the full menu isn't served until 4 PM and tapas isn't for everyone. If you're into large portions and getting "more for your money" than this isn't for you. Tapas is about snacking portions. My husband and I were definitely full when we left, but we also aren't into the big portions served at most restaurants either. The end note: Great atmosphere, Fabulous selection of alcoholic beverages, Delicious high-quality foods.

After two attempts to test this place out, I have yet to actually eat here. Needless to say, I hate this place. This place is supposedly reservation-only, except for the bar. There are no visible signs notating this on or in the restaurant or even on the website. Don't be deceived by the snazzy-sounding menu and the interior design. Noir represents everything terrible about the archetype of high-end restaurants, without the benefit of being one. I couldn't even describe a redeeming quality about the food because I've been rudely rejected and humiliated by the service staff twice. My first attempt to dine here was in the fall of last year. It was a nice, sunny weekday afternoon, early in the evening and hours before evening rush. There are nice little tables out front, which on this day was mostly occupied by patrons. When I entered the restaurant, the service staff noticed me immediately, but waited by the bar for several minutes before approaching or greeting me. The restaurant was entirely vacant except for three tables of two and the bar was mostly occupied except for a few seats. As I was alone, I figured this wouldn't be a problem. As no one greeted me, I assumed that I was expected to seat myself. As soon as I sat down, a snide waitress approached me with a condescending grimace on her face. She did not greet me in any way, but rudely asked if I had a reservation. I was confused and alarmed by the lack of hospitality and admitted that I was unaware that I needed to have a reservation. Remember how I said this place is reservation only, except for the bar, and how there were empty seats that day? This waitress continued to sneer at me and said that I needed a reservation. She turned me away, without offering a seat at the bar, without an apology, without any trace of hospitality. Let's fast forward to my 25th birthday. It's January, it's a busy Friday night. My party of four ate at a wonderful gastropub next door. We decided to stop for drinks and desserts at Noir. We walked in and noticed there were 3 or 4 empty tables and four scattered seats at the bar. Again, no greeting from the wait staff, although they did notice us and watch us as we sat down, took off our coats, and talked for fifteen minutes. Finally, we were approached by a member of the service staff in the same manner: rudely, with no greeting, asking if we had a reservation. This time, however, we were informed that we could sit at the bar... but as the seats were scattered, we could not sit together if we wanted that option. Again, there was no apology and while we were not asked to leave, the waitress did notice the predicament we were in and simply stared at us with no concern. Furthermore, don't bring anyone here who needs special accommodations. The tables are packed in like sardines and there is hardly any room to walk, let alone any kind of room for wheelchairs or people who need other kinds of assistance. I was alarmed both times by how packed this place is. The decor is stunning, but both times I felt like a bull in a china shop because of the lack of space. The second time I visited Noir (let's call it a visit), I was glad we found an empty spot at the lounge area because I felt like my elbow would be sticking into another patron if we sat at a table. Both times I have gone to Noir, I have been completely humiliated by the lack of hospitality and the terrible people skills of their wait staff. I would rather eat fast food than whatever they have here because the service will be better. Instead of dining here or meeting here for drinks, I highly recommend spending your money next door at The Publik House. As for Noir: you should really work on your people skills and emphasize your preference for reservations. If you place reservation cards on the tables or have a hostess station at the door, you won't have this problem.

My husband and I, along with another couple, tried Noir last night for the first time. They've had their doors open for about 3 weeks according to our server. On a Wednesday night the place was loud and crowded. We were seated near the (very cool looking) bar at a very high table. Along one wall were booths with low tables - each booth full of parties of 6. All four of us had a dish we absolutely loved (for me it was the scallops, for another it was the mussels). And the other dishes were very very good. No "bonks"! I had something like a creme brulee for dessert that was really good. Although our server was a little delayed getting to our table when we first arrived (and he apologized), he was right on the spot for the rest of the evening. The service was great. The food was great. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that the table we were seated at was just really not that comfortable for this type of small plate dining. We had two bottles of wine on the table and the rack of "fries" they brought to the table. I almost knocked my wine over twice while that rack of fries with its two side "wings" was being passed around. Then when the plates started arriving there was just nowhere to put things. And, just an observation, it didn't appear the booths with the low table were that comfy, either, for eating purposes. Still, we enjoyed it and look forward to going back and trying some of the dishes we didn't get to sample last night!

Wow what a surprise. I know Prospect is already saturated with hip places to eat but Noir takes the cake. Everything was great! We really liked the Beef Carpaccio and the Shrimp and Avocado tapas. All in all we had 6 dishes and a dessert with drinks and it came out to 60 bucks. By the way the desserts are the best part. We had the banana gelato with tiramisu cream and fried plantains and it was so good I wanted to get another one. Ill definitely be back!

I went to Noir a few weeks ago with my sister and some other local friends. As I studied abroad in Spain in college, I was excited for some authentic fare at this restaurant in a very cute neighborhood near my hometown. We only went for drinks and apps but here's my thoughts: -Atmosphere was great. You could sit at the bar, at regular tables, at low couches or even outside. A+ -The place was small, quaint and clean. A+ -The music gets an F. Note to Noir - if you are going fora "Spanish" flare, please get the authentic music selections right! They were playing very loud salsa and pachata music. Neither of which are popular in Spain. I was hoping to hear some flamenco beats or box drums but nope. Very disappointing, Noir!! -They have a great wine list which even comes with an in-house sommelier to help you with your choice. I was interested in getting assistance with my selection so he came over to give me a "splash". Now, I do find this to be a terrific service buuuuuuut the particular man was quite rude. Helpful but pretentious and rude. In working with me to figure out what type of wine I like, he asked what I had last night. When I told him I'd had a "Gladiator" he responded with a snooty, obnoxious "EWWWWWWWWW". I was immediately turned off. He did help me find a wine I liked but I could have gone without him insulting the wine I drink on a regular basis when I'm at home with a cheap bottle. -I did not try the apps but my friends seemed to enjoy some Grilled Serrano & Manchego Crostini as well as the Cold Shrimp with Mango Cocktail Sauce. Based on their comments, I give the apps a B. ;) I would like to return for some tapas but I hope hope hope that they are playing some more authentic music by then. I will update my review if it happens!

The wine pour was generous, but the tapas portions were extremely small. Dinner ended up being quite expensive. Tapas restaurants in Chicago are much more reasonably priced. I was disappointed with Noir.

I've been to Noir on three occasions, but last night's visit will be my last. The food has always been good. The reason I won't return is the condescending attitude shown to my party when the owner asked how we were enjoying our visit. We told the owner that our service was slow. Instead apologizing or asking for more details she immediately launched into a defensive speech about how long a typical tapas meal should take. She simply assumed that none of my friends or I were cultured enough to understand the experience. We have all eaten in tapas restaurants before AND we had all dined at Noir before. What we meant by slow service was that it took 20 minutes (not exaggerating) to get my bottle of beer EACH time I ordered one. That is unacceptable. It is also unacceptable for the owner to be dismissive of our dissatisfaction with that service. I actually had to interrupt the owner's explanation of a "tapas experience" to tell her that it was truly the service and not the style of dining that was the issue. I probably could have gotten over the poor service, but the way the owner treated my group will keep me from going back.
(1)Janet L.
I give this one start not because the food was bad, but because I think people should think twice about dropping a load of money here because that is just what you will do. If you spend less than $75, you will probably still be hungry when you leave. The food itself was very tasty. I believe I would have really enjoyed the scallops had I had enough of a bite to really taste it. The four scallops we paid about $12 for were all different sizes so some were way over cooked. The smallest one could hardly even count for a bite size. The portions were so small for what you paid for, it was almost humorous, excepting that the joke was on us. The service was so, so...they did not check on drinks or offer another and it took a long time to get the food and we were one of the only ones in the restaurant. The ambiance is nice and the idea is excellent...lots of potential. I however will not return there until I hear there have been some drastic changes.

Ridiculously overpriced for what u get. I was excited for the seafood and fried cheeses, which they told us they were out of after we ordered. There are not many vegetarian options. Steak kabob's were overcooked. Sangria had way too much fruit and not enough alcohol. Everything else was fine, but for the price and small portions that u receieve it really should be way better. Super dissapointment. We will not return.
